1. Switch-off
In stand-by mode, electrical machines, installations and devices not only continue to consume energy unnecessarily, but also increase the risk of fire. Do a prevention tour to reduce standby energy consumption and don't skip a single room.
2. The risk of theft increases significantly
For thieves, the dead industrial parks in times of crisis are a dream come true. Police forces may be extra vigilant, but organized gangs are not deterred by this. Connecting your company to a security firm is certainly not a crazy idea. Also, provide as many physical security mechanisms as possible where necessary. Do an observation round through and around your building(s) and try to see things through the eyes of a potential intruder. What would you do or use yourself to break in?
3. Move flammable materials where necessary
Never underestimate the danger of people with bad intentions. By moving flammable goods at least ten metres away from your buildings, you can prevent fire due to transhipment and other calamities. Please make sure that emergency services can still easily make their way around buildings.
4. Do not place vehicles next to each other
Vehicles parked right next to each other also increase the risk of fire spread. So let your employees take their vehicles home with them to spread the risk literally and figuratively. If certain vehicles still have to remain on your premises, it is best to park them as far away from each other as possible.
5. Empty vans and service vehicles
Every thief knows that in most vans, there are considerable amounts of tools or other materials stored. Therefore, keep valuables indoors during this special period.
6. Frost and strong (hail) showers
This year we've already enjoyed a bright spring sun for a few days, but everyone knows that the weather gods regularly show their less beautiful side at the beginning of spring. For example, they warn again about night frost, which can affect outdoor faucets and other pipes. Fierce hailstorms are also never ruled out. For this reason, try to store vehicles that are inactive for a longer period of time indoors as much as possible.
7. Have your insurance file checked against corona
Each crisis brings with it its own specific problems and unusual situations. However, experience teaches us that by no means all insurance policies take crisis situations into account. Whether it concerns a policy for accidents at work, liability, fire or any other insurance branch, it is best to have your insurance file screened for gaps specifically caused by the corona crisis (and other crises in general). So feel free to contact our experts and you will quickly find out everything you need to know.
